About the Studio

Design that begins with vision and ends in a home that feels like you.

Harriette Sutton · Principal

Harriette Sutton is a respected Southern interior designer with a gift for creating homes that feel refined and welcoming in the same breath. Her work is rooted in timeless Southern design — collected, casual, and quietly elegant.

“I define my style as casual elegance. I like for design to be complete, but not fussy.”

At Southern Lady Interiors, the work spans the full arc of a project. Harriette begins with the earliest conversation — listening for how a client lives, what they love, the way they want a room to feel. From there, ideas take shape on paper. She hand-draws elevations, plans cabinetry, edits architectural details, and selects every soft good and furnishing that follows.

That breadth is what makes the studio unusual. A single home can move through exterior architectural direction, interior layout, cabinet design, soft goods, and the final finishing layer — all guided by the same hand, with the same point of view.

“My goal is to integrate my design in a room so that it reflects my client.”

The result is a home that feels personal, livable, and complete — beautiful without trying too hard, and entirely its own.

From Pencil to Place

Every project begins with a drawing.

Harriette still drafts by hand — front elevations, back elevations, cabinet faces, and the small architectural moments that give a home its character. It is a slower way to work, and the homes show it.

“You need a focal point in a room, but don’t overdo it. Your eye needs places to rest to appreciate the room as a whole.”
